Paying for Animal Upkeep

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that if someone uses an animal for riding or milking, they must pay for its upkeep.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: "A mount may be ridden when it is pawned, and its milk may be drunk when it is pawned, but the one who rides it or milks it must pay for its upkeep'. "
