Sunan Ibn Majah 2418 (Book 15, Hadith 29) #31770
Rewarding Generosity

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that those who give respite to someone in difficulty will be rewarded with an act of charity for each day, and those who give respite after payment becomes due will be rewarded with an act of charity equal to the amount of the loan for each day.

It was narrated from Buraidah Al-Aslami that the Prophet said: "Whoever gives respite to one in difficulty, he will have (the reward of) an act of charity for each day. Whoever gives him respite after payment becomes due, will have (the reward of) an act of charity equal to (the amount of the loan) for each day".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous and help others in difficult times.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about the importance of generosity and helping others in difficult times. It is narrated from Buraidah Al-Aslami that the Prophet (ﷺ) said that whoever gives respite to one in difficulty, he will have (the reward of) an act of charity for each day. This means that if someone helps another person out by giving them more time to pay back a debt or loan, they will receive a reward from Allah as if they had done an act of charity. Furthermore, whoever gives him respite after payment becomes due, will have (the reward of) an act of charity equal to (the amount of the loan) for each day. This means that if someone helps another person out by giving them more time to pay back a debt or loan even after it has become due, they will receive a reward from Allah as if they had done an act of charity equal to the amount owed. Therefore this hadith encourages us all to be generous and help others when we can so we can reap rewards from Allah both in this life and hereafter.
