Responsibility and Negligence

SUMMARY: It is not the responsibility of someone to take care of something if they are not negligent.

It was narrated from 'Amr bin Shu'aib, from his father, that his grandfather said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever is entrusted with an item for safekeeping, is not responsible for it (so long as he is not negligent)'. "

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive hard , Take extra care when looking after other people's belongings .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about responsibility and negligence. It was narrated by 'Amr bin Shu'aib, from his father, that his grandfather said that the Messenger of Allah said “Whoever is entrusted with an item for safekeeping, is not responsible for it so long as he is not negligent”. This means that if someone has been given something to look after but they are careful with it and do their best to protect it then they will not be held accountable for any damage or loss caused to the item. However, if they are careless or negligent in their duties then they will be held responsible for any damage or loss caused due to their negligence. The lesson here is that we should always strive to do our best in whatever task we have been given and take extra care when looking after other people's belongings so as not to cause them any harm or loss due to our negligence.
