Sahih al-Bukhari 3321 (Book 59, Hadith 127) #3174
Kindness Rewarded

SUMMARY: A prostitute was forgiven by Allah for her act of kindness towards a thirsty dog.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that".

Because of this compassionate act, Allah forgave her sins. This hadith teaches us that even small acts of kindness can be rewarded greatly, and that mercy should be shown towards all creatures regardless of their status or background.
