Sunan Ibn Majah 2372 (Book 13, Hadith 65) #31724
Avoiding False Witness

SUMMARY: False witness is equivalent to associating others with Allah and should be avoided.

It was narrated that Khuraim bin Fatik Al-Asadi said that : the Prophet prayed the Morning prayer, and when he had finished, he stood up and said: "Bearing false witness is equivalent to associating others with Allah," three times. Then he recited this Verse: "And shun lying speech (false statements), Hunafa' Lillah (ie, worshiping none but Allah), not associating partners (in worship) to Him".

QUICK LESSONS:
Avoid lying speech and bearing false witness .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of avoiding false witness, which is considered equivalent to associating others with Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ recited a verse from the Quran that states “And shun lying speech [false statements], Hunafa’ Lillah [ie, worshiping none but Allah], not associating partners [in worship] to Him”. This verse serves as a reminder for us to stay away from false statements and instead focus on worshipping only Allah without any partners or associates. We must remember that bearing false witness is a major sin in Islam and should be avoided at all costs.
