QUICK LESSONS:
Abstain from certain activities during pilgrimage; Take life only when necessary for self-protection or safety; Show mercy towards all living creatures .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith states that it is not sinful for a person in the state of Ihram to kill any of five animals, which are scorpion, rat, rabid dog, crow and kite. The state of Ihram is a sacred condition that Muslims enter into when they are performing Hajj or Umrah pilgrimage. In this condition, Muslims must abstain from certain activities such as hunting and killing animals. However, this hadith makes an exception for these five animals as it is permissible to kill them while in the state of Ihram. This shows us that Islam has taken into consideration the safety and well-being of people by allowing them to protect themselves from harm caused by these creatures. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about mercy towards all living creatures as we should only take their lives if absolutely necessary for our own safety or protection.
