Selling Fruits, Grapes and Grains

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade selling fruits, grapes and grains until they have changed in color or texture.

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that : the Messenger of Allah forbade selling fruits until they have changed the color, and selling grapes until they have turned black, and selling grains until they have hardened.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الثَّمَرَةِ حَتَّى تَزْهُوَ وَعَنْ بَيْعِ الْعِنَبِ حَتَّى يَسْوَدَّ وَعَنْ بَيْعِ الْحَبِّ حَتَّى يَشْتَدَّ

This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's teachings on selling fruits, grapes and grains. He forbade people from selling these items until they have changed in color or texture. For example, he said that people should not sell fruits until they have changed their color, grapes until they have turned black and grains until they have hardened. This hadith teaches us to be patient when it comes to buying things as we should wait for them to reach their peak quality before purchasing them. It also teaches us the importance of being honest when it comes to business transactions as we should not try to deceive customers by selling them items that are not of good quality. Furthermore, this hadith encourages us to be mindful of our actions as even small decisions can affect others around us.
