Sunan Ibn Majah 2054 (Book 10, Hadith 39) #31406
Divorce and Paradise

SUMMARY: Women should not ask for divorce unless absolutely necessary, as it will prevent them from smelling the fragrance of paradise.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet said: "No woman asks for divorce when it is not absolutely necessary, but she will never smell the fragrance of paradise, although its fragrance can be detected from a distance of forty years' travel".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect your partner ; Take your marriage seriously ; Do not ask for divorce unless absolutely necessary .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of marriage and how women should not ask for divorce unless absolutely necessary. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that if a woman asks for divorce when it is not absolutely necessary, she will never smell the fragrance of paradise. This means that if a woman does not take her marriage seriously and does not try to make it work before asking for a divorce, she will miss out on the rewards in paradise. The hadith also implies that marriage is an important part of life and should be taken seriously by both partners in order to reap its rewards in this world and the hereafter.
