This hadith is about the Islamic practice of observing ‘Iddah, which is a period of waiting after divorce or death of one’s spouse before remarrying. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ advised that a previously married woman should observe ‘Iddah for three days and a virgin should observe it for seven days.
