Taking Zakat from Wealth

SUMMARY: The Prophet used to take half a Dinar from every twenty Dinar or more, and one Dinar from forty Dinar.

Ibn 'Umar and 'Aishah narrated that: that from every twenty Dinar or more. The Prophet used to take half a Dinar and from forty Dinar, one Dinar.
حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَنْبَأَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، وَعَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ ـ كَانَ يَأْخُذُ مِنْ كُلِّ عِشْرِينَ دِينَارًا فَصَاعِدًا نِصْفَ دِينَارٍ وَمِنَ الأَرْبَعِينَ دِينَارًا دِينَارًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of giving charity, or zakat, from one's wealth. According to this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad used to take half a dinar for every twenty dinar or more that he was given as charity. He also took one dinar for every forty dinar that he was given as charity. This shows us how important it is to give away some of our wealth in order to help those who are less fortunate than us. It also teaches us that we should be generous with our money and not keep it all for ourselves. Giving away some of our wealth can bring great rewards both in this life and the hereafter.
