QUICK LESSONS:
Paying zakat according to Islamic law; Contributing a small amount for charity; Being generous with wealth; Helping those who are less fortunate than you

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Ali states that the Prophet Muhammad exempted his followers from having to pay Zakat on horses and slaves. This is a form of taxation in Islam which is used to help those who are less fortunate. However, the Prophet also stated that they should still pay one quarter of one-tenth of every forty Dirhams. This means that even though they are exempt from paying taxes on certain items, they still need to contribute a small amount in order to help those who are less fortunate than them. This hadith teaches us the importance of helping others and being generous with our wealth, even if it is only a small amount.
