EXPLANATIONS:
According to a hadith narrated by Aswad from 'Aishah, the wife of Prophet Muhammad, she never saw him fasting during the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. This suggests that fasting is not obligatory during this period and it is permissible to eat and drink normally. It also implies that one should focus on other acts of worship such as charity, prayer, reciting Quran etc., rather than fasting in order to gain rewards from Allah SWT. This hadith also teaches us that we should be mindful about our actions and follow what has been taught by our beloved prophet PBUH in order to gain rewards from Allah SWT in this world and hereafter.
