Eating and Drinking in the Days of Tashriq

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that no one will enter Paradise except a Muslim soul, and these days are the days of eating and drinking.

It was narrated from Bishr bin Suhaim that: The Messenger of Allah delivered a sermon on the days of Tashriq (11th, 12th, and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah) and said: "No one will enter Paradise but a Muslim soul, and these days are the days of eating and drinking".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، عَنْ بِشْرِ بْنِ سُحَيْمٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ خَطَبَ أَيَّامَ التَّشْرِيقِ فَقَالَ: ‏ "‏ لاَ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلاَّ نَفْسٌ مُسْلِمَةٌ. وَإِنَّ هَذِهِ الأَيَّامَ أَيَّامُ أَكْلٍ وَشُرْبٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that no one will enter Paradise except a Muslim soul. He also said that these days, known as the days of Tashriq, are the days for eating and drinking. This hadith is teaching us to remember our faith in Allah during this time period, as well as to enjoy ourselves by eating and drinking with moderation. We should not forget our faith while we are enjoying ourselves; rather we should use this time to strengthen our relationship with Allah through prayer and remembrance. We should also remember to practice moderation when it comes to food and drink so that we do not overindulge or become wasteful with what Allah has given us.
