Fasting Three Days of Each Month

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to fast three days of each month without specifying which days.

It was narrated from Mu’adhah Al-Adawiyyah that 'Aishah said: "The Messenger of Allah used to fast three days of each month". I said: "Which were they?" She said: "He did not care which days they were".

QUICK LESSONS:
Fast regularly throughout the year ; Take advantage of physical & spiritual benefits ; Strive for what is best for oneself & faith ; Be open minded about different ways of practicing religion

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Muadhah Al-Adawiyyah states that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to fast three days of each month. This means that he would fast on three different days in a single month, but he did not specify which particular days they were. This teaches us the importance of fasting and how it is an integral part of our faith as Muslims. It also shows us that we should be flexible with our religious practices and not be too strict or rigid when it comes to following them. We should strive to make sure we are doing what is best for ourselves and for our faith, while still being open minded about different ways of practicing it.

Fasting has many benefits, both physical and spiritual, such as improving one's health, increasing self-discipline, developing patience and perseverance, strengthening one's relationship with Allah SWT, among others. Therefore this hadith encourages us to take advantage of these benefits by fasting regularly throughout the year in order to become closer to Allah SWT and reap all its rewards in this life and the hereafter.
