Breaking Fast During Cupping in Ramadan

SUMMARY: Cupping and the one for whom cupping is done both break their fast during Ramadan.

It was narrated from Abu Qilabah that when Shaddad bin Aws was walking with the Messenger of Allah in Al-Baqi’, he passed by a man who was being cupped, after eighteen days of the month (of Ramadan) had passed. The Messenger of Allah said: "The Cupper and the one for whom cupping is done both break their fast".

Follow Islamic teachings regarding fasting in Ramadan even if you have medical needs or other reasons why you cannot do so. Show compassion and understanding towards others who may not be able to follow these teachings due to medical reasons or other circumstances beyond their control.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the importance of fasting during the month of Ramadan, which is a holy month for Muslims. It was narrated by Abu Qilabah that when Shaddad bin Aws was walking with the Messenger of Allah in Al-Baqi, he passed by a man who was being cupped after eighteen days of the month had passed. The Messenger of Allah said that both the person doing cupping and the person receiving it can break their fast during this time. This shows that even if someone has to do something like cupping, they are still allowed to break their fast as long as it does not harm them or make them ill. This hadith also teaches us about compassion and understanding towards those who may have medical needs or other reasons why they cannot fast during this time.
