Obeying the Teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and not going against them.

It was narrated that Silah bin Zufar said: "We were with 'Ammar on the day concerning which there was some doubt. A (roasted) sheep was brought and some of the people moved away'.Ammar said: 'Whoever is fasting on this day has disobeyed Abu Qasim .’"
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الأَحْمَرُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ صِلَةَ بْنِ زُفَرَ، قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَمَّارٍ فِي الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي يُشَكُّ فِيهِ فَأُتِيَ بِشَاةٍ فَتَنَحَّى بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ عَمَّارٌ مَنْ صَامَ هَذَا الْيَوْمَ فَقَدْ عَصَى أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ ـ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In this hadith, Silah bin Zufar narrates that he was with 'Ammar on a day when there was some doubt. A roasted sheep was brought and some people moved away from it because they were fasting on that day. 'Ammar then said that whoever is fasting on this day has disobeyed Abu Qasim, which refers to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This hadith teaches us to always obey and follow the teachings of our beloved prophet as it is an act of disobedience to go against his teachings. We should strive to live our lives according to his example in order to gain Allah's pleasure and mercy.
