Sunan Ibn Majah 1624 (Book 6, Hadith 192) #30976
Passing of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) passed away after drawing back the curtain and seeing Abu Bakr leading the prayer.

It was narrated that Zuhri heard Anas bin Malik say: "The last glance that I had of the Messenger of Allah was when he drew back the curtain on Monday, and I saw his face as if it was a page of the Mushaf (Qur’an), and the people were praying behind Abu Bakr. He (Abu Bakr) wanted to move, but he (the Prophet ) gestured to him to stand firm. Then he let the curtain fall, and he died at the end of that day".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray together as a community, take care of others even after death .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith is about the passing away of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). On Monday, he drew back a curtain and saw Abu Bakr leading people in prayer. He gestured to him to stay put and then let go of the curtain before passing away at the end of that day. This hadith teaches us that even in his last moments, Prophet Muhammad was concerned for his people and wanted them to be taken care of even after his death. It also shows us how important it is for Muslims to pray together as a community as this was one of the last things that he witnessed before departing from this world.
