Sunan Ibn Majah 1586 (Book 6, Hadith 154) #30938
Remaining Calm in Times of Calamity

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) teaching people to remain calm and not to wail loudly during times of calamity.

'Abdur-Rahman bin Yazid and Abu Burdah said: "When Abu Musa fell sick, his wife Umm 'Abdullah started to wail loudly. He woke up and said to her: 'Do you not know that I am innocent of those whom the Messenger of Allah declared innocence of?’ And he told her that the Messenger of Allah said: 'I am innocent of those who shave their heads, raise their voices and tear their garments (at times of calamity).’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Remain calm , Seek comfort from Allah SWT through prayer & supplication
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that we should remain calm and not wail loudly during times of calamity. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) declared that he was innocent of those who shave their heads, raise their voices and tear their garments at such times. This means that these actions are discouraged as they do not reflect the teachings of Islam. Instead, we should be patient in our suffering and seek comfort from Allah SWT through prayer and supplication. We should also remember that Allah SWT tests us with hardships so that He can reward us for our patience in the hereafter.
