Sahih al-Bukhari 312 (Book 6, Hadith 17) #309
Managing Menstrual Cycles with Limited Resources

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the difficulties faced by the Prophet Muhammad's wives in managing their menstrual cycles with limited resources.

Narrated 'Aisha: None of us had more than a single garment and we used to have our menses while wearing it. Whenever it got soiled with blood of menses we used to apply saliva to the blood spot and rub off the blood with our nails.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrated by 'Aisha speaks of the difficult circumstances faced by the Prophet Muhammad's wives during their menstrual cycles. They only had one garment each and when it got soiled with blood they would use saliva to clean it off and rub off any remaining stains with their nails. This shows how resourceful they were in managing their menses despite having limited resources available to them. It also highlights how important it is for us to be mindful of our environment and make use of whatever resources we have at our disposal in order to achieve a desired outcome.
