Showing Respect at Funerals

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed respect for the deceased by standing up for their funeral and his companions followed suit.

It was narrated that 'Ali bin Abu Talib said: "The Messenger of Allah stood up for a funeral, and we stood up, until he sat down, then we sat down".
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ مَسْعُودِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، قَالَ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ لِجِنَازَةٍ فَقُمْنَا حَتَّى جَلَسَ فَجَلَسْنَا
