It was narrated by Bilal bin Yahya that when one of his family members died, Hudhaifah would say not to inform anyone about it because he heard the Prophet Muhammad forbidding making public death announcements. This teaches us that we should be mindful and respectful when someone passes away and not make a big announcement or draw attention to it in any way.
