Sunan Ibn Majah 1446 (Book 6, Hadith 14) #30798
Reciting La ilaha illallahul-Halimul-Karim in Life and Death

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encouraged people to recite the phrase "La ilaha illallahul-Halimul-Karim, Subhan-Allahi Rabbil-'Arshil-'Azim, Al-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-'alamin" when they are dying and even better if they recite it while alive.

It was narrated from Ishaq bin 'Abdullah bin Ja’far that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Urge your dying ones to say: "La ilaha illallahul-Halimul-Karim, Subhan-Allahi Rabbil-'Arshil-'Azim, Al-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-'alamin (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Forbearing, the Most Kind. Glory is to Allah, Lord of the magnificent Throne; praise is to Allah, the Lord of the worlds).’" They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what about those who are alive?’ He said: 'Even better, even better.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Urge your loved ones who are about die or have died already to recite "La ilaha illallah".

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us an important lesson about life and death. He said that we should urge our dying ones to say a special phrase which is “La ilaha illallahul-Halimul-Karim, Subhan-Allahi Rabbil-'Arshil-'Azim, Al-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-'alamin”. This phrase means “None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Forbearing, the Most Kind. Glory is to Allah, Lord of the magnificent Throne; praise is to Allah, the Lord of the worlds”. It is a reminder for us that only Allah deserves our worship and praise no matter what situation we are in or how close we are to death. Furthermore, he said that it would be even better if those who are alive also recite this phrase as well as those who are dying because it will bring them closer to God and help them remember Him more often throughout their lives.
