Sunan Ibn Majah 1433 (Book 6, Hadith 1) #30785
Six Courtesies of a Muslim

SUMMARY: The Muslim has six courtesies that they should show to other Muslims, such as greeting them with salam, accepting their invitation, responding to their sneezes with Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah have mercy on you), visiting them when they are sick, following their funeral if they die and loving for them what one loves for themselves.

It was narrated that 'Ali said that the Messenger of Allah said: "The Muslim has six courtesies due from the Muslim: He should greet him with Salam when he meets him; he should accept his invitation if he invites him; he should answer by Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah have mercy on you) to him if he sneezes (and says Al- Hamdulillah); he should visit him if he falls sick; he should follow his funeral if he dies; and he should love for him what he loves for himself".

QUICK LESSONS:
Greet with Salam; Accept invitation; Respond to sneeze; Visit if sick; Follow funeral if died; Love for others what one loves for themselves.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ teaches us about the importance of showing kindness and respect to our fellow Muslims. It is important that we greet each other with salam when we meet, accept invitations from each other, respond to sneezes by saying “Yarhamuk-Allah” which means “May Allah have mercy on you” in Arabic, visit each other when someone is sick or has passed away and love for others what we love for ourselves. These courtesies are essential in order to build strong relationships between Muslims and create a sense of unity within the community.
