The Reward of Praying in the Quba Mosque

SUMMARY: Praying in the Quba Mosque is equivalent to performing an 'Umrah.

Abul-Abrad, the freed slave of Banu Khatmah, said that he heard Usaid bin Zuhair Ansari who was one of the Companions of the Prophet narrating that the Prophet said: "One prayer in the Quba’ Mosque is like 'Umrah".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَبْرَدِ، مَوْلَى بَنِي خَطْمَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أُسَيْدَ بْنَ ظُهَيْرٍ الأَنْصَارِيَّ، وَكَانَ، مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ـ ـ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ ـ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ "‏ صَلاَةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِ قُبَاءٍ كَعُمْرَةٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the reward for praying in the Quba Mosque, which is located near Medina. According to this hadith, one prayer performed at this mosque is equal to performing an ‘Umrah. An ‘Umrah is a pilgrimage that Muslims perform at any time during the year and it involves visiting certain holy sites and performing certain rituals such as circling around Kaaba seven times and walking between two hills called Safa and Marwa seven times each. Thus, this hadith encourages Muslims to pray at this mosque as it has a great reward associated with it.
