The Prophet's (PBUH) Duha Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) used to pray four Rakah of Duha prayer and would add whatever Allah willed.

Mu’adhah Al-Adawiyyah said: "I asked 'Aishah: 'Did the Prophet pray Duha?’ She said: 'Yes; four (Rak’ah) and he would add whatever Allah willed.’"
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرِّشْكِ، عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ الْعَدَوِيَّةِ، قَالَتْ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ أَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ـ ـ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى قَالَتْ نَعَمْ أَرْبَعًا وَيَزِيدُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
According to the hadith narrated by Muadhah Al-Adawiyyah, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to pray four Rakah of Duha prayer and would add whatever Allah willed. This is a sunnah prayer which is not obligatory but recommended for Muslims to perform. It is usually performed in the morning after sunrise or in the afternoon before sunset. It consists of two rakahs with an optional two rakahs that can be added if one wishes. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to do more than what is required from us and seek blessings from Allah through extra prayers and good deeds.
