Sahih al-Bukhari 3215 (Book 59, Hadith 26) #3073
Different Ways of Divine Inspiration

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) explains how divine inspiration comes to him in different ways.

Narrated Aisha: Al Harith bin Hisham asked the Prophet, "How does the divine inspiration come to you?" He replied, "In all these ways: The Angel sometimes comes to me with a voice which resembles the sound of a ringing bell, and when this state abandons me, I remember what the Angel has said, and this type of Divine Inspiration is the hardest on me; and sometimes the Angel comes to me in the shape of a man and talks to me, and I understand and remember what he says".

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Aisha talks about the different ways in which divine inspiration comes to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. According to the hadith, sometimes an angel appears with a voice that resembles the sound of a ringing bell and when this state abandons him, he remembers what was said by the angel. At other times, an angel appears in the shape of a man and speaks to him and he understands and remembers what was said. This hadith highlights how Allah communicates with His prophets through angels who bring them messages from Him. It also shows us that we should always remember Allah's words as they are important for our guidance on this earth.
