Sunan Ibn Majah 1372 (Book 5, Hadith 570) #30724
Praying at Night with Difficulty

SUMMARY: When praying at night, if one is unable to recite the Quran properly due to not knowing the words, it is better to lie down.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: "When anyone of you gets up to pray at night, and his tongue stumbles over the words of the Qur’an, and he does not know what he is saying, let him lie down".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray during night time even when tired

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about prayer during the night time. It encourages us to pray even when we are tired and our tongue stumbles over the words of the Quran. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that if we find ourselves in this situation, it is better for us to lie down and rest instead of continuing with a prayer that we cannot properly recite. This hadith teaches us that it is important for us to take care of ourselves and not push ourselves too hard when performing religious duties such as prayer. We should also remember that Allah loves those who are patient and forgiving towards themselves when they make mistakes or cannot do something perfectly.
