The Prophet's Night Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prayed thirteen Rakah at night, including eight Rakah and three for Witr, and two Rakah after the Fajr.

It was narrated that 'Amir Ash-Sha’bi said: "I asked 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas and 'Abdullah bin 'Umar about the Prophet’s prayer at night. They said: '(He prayed) thirteen Rak’ah, including eight, and three for Witr, and two Rak’ah after the Fajr.’"
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ الْمَدِينِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ عَنْ صَلاَةِ، رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ ـ بِاللَّيْلِ فَقَالاَ ثَلاَثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً مِنْهَا ثَمَانٍ وَيُوتِرُ بِثَلاَثٍ وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْفَجْرِ

This hadith is about the prayer of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ at night. He would pray thirteen rakahs in total, which included eight rakahs and three for witr. Additionally, he would pray two rakahs after fajr. This hadith teaches us that we should strive to follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet ﷺ by praying regularly throughout the day and night. We should also make sure to include witr in our prayers as it is an important part of salat. Furthermore, this hadith encourages us to be consistent with our prayers so that we can reap its many benefits both spiritually and physically.
