Sahih al-Bukhari 3211 (Book 59, Hadith 22) #3069
Angels Recording Names on Fridays

SUMMARY: On every Friday, angels are present at the mosque to record the names of those who come for prayer and when the Imam sits down to deliver his sermon, they fold up their scrolls and listen.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "On every Friday the angels take their stand at every gate of the mosque to write the names of the people chronologically (ie according to the time of their arrival for the Friday prayer) and when the Imam sits (on the pulpit) they fold up their scrolls and get ready to listen to the sermon".

This hadith encourages us to attend our mosques regularly on Fridays as it is a great opportunity for us to gain rewards from Allah SWT through our attendance in congregational prayers. It also teaches us that we should be punctual in attending our prayers so that we can be recorded by these angels as being among those who attended early. Furthermore, this hadith reminds us of how important it is for an Imam or leader of a congregation to have knowledge about Islam so he can guide others with his sermons and teachings from Quran and Sunnah.
