Delivering Sermons on Festive Occasions

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered a sermon standing up on the Day of Al-Fitr or Al-Adha, and then sat down briefly before standing up again.

It was narrated that Jabir said: "The Messenger of Allah went out on the Day of Al-Fitr or Al-Adha, and delivered a sermon standing up. Then he sat down briefly, then stood up again".
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَحْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ أَوْ أَضْحًى فَخَطَبَ قَائِمًا ثُمَّ قَعَدَ قَعْدَةً ثُمَّ قَامَ
