Victory and Destruction through Winds

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was made victorious with the easterly wind and the people of 'Ad were destroyed with the westerly wind.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet said, "I have been made victorious with the Saba (ie easterly wind) and the people of 'Ad were destroyed with the Dabur (ie westerly wind) ".
حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ نُصِرْتُ بِالصَّبَا، وَأُهْلِكَتْ عَادٌ بِالدَّبُورِ

This hadith is about how Allah granted victory to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through an easterly wind and destroyed the people of 'Ad with a westerly wind. This hadith teaches us that Allah is all-powerful and can grant victory or destruction to anyone He wills. It also shows us that we should always be grateful for any blessings we receive from Allah as they are not guaranteed. We should also remember that no matter how powerful someone may seem in this world, they are still subject to Allah's will.
