Prostrations for Forgetfulness

SUMMARY: The hadith is about performing two prostrations for forgetfulness if one stands up after two Rakah.

It was narrated that Mughirah bin Shu’bah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'If anyone of you stands after two Rak’ah, if he has not yet stood up fully, let him sit down again, but if he has stood up fully, then let him not sit down, and let him perform two prostrations for forgetfulness (Sahw).’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful when praying , Acknowledge mistakes made during prayers .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer and how to perform it correctly. It was narrated by Mughirah bin Shubah that the Messenger of Allah said that if someone stands up after two Rakahs and has not yet stood up fully, they should sit down again. However, if they have already stood up fully then they should not sit down but instead perform two prostrations for forgetfulness or Sahw. This teaches us that we must be mindful when we are praying and take care to ensure that we do not make any mistakes in our prayer as this can lead to us having to perform extra prostrations afterwards. We must also remember that even if we do make a mistake in our prayer, it is important to acknowledge it and perform the necessary prostrations afterwards so as not to invalidate our prayer.
