Following the Sunnah for Witr Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of following the Sunnah of Allah and His Messenger when performing Witr prayer.

A man asked Ibn 'Umar: "How should I perform Witr?" He said: "Pray Witr with one Rak’ah". He said: "I am afraid that the people will say that I am cutting the prayer short". He said: "The Sunnah of Allah and His Messenger". Meaning "This is the Sunnah of Allah and His Messenger".
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُطَّلِبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ سَأَلَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ كَيْفَ أُوتِرُ قَالَ أَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ إِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يَقُولَ النَّاسُ الْبُتَيْرَاءُ فَقَالَ سُنَّةُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ‏.‏ يُرِيدُ هَذِهِ سُنَّةُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ـ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of following the Sunnah of Allah and His Messenger when performing Witr prayer. The man asked Ibn 'Umar how to perform Witr prayer and he replied that it should be done with one Rakah. He was worried that people would think he was cutting his prayer short but Ibn 'Umar reassured him by saying that this is indeed what Allah and His Messenger have taught us to do. This hadith teaches us to always follow the teachings of Allah and His Messenger in all aspects of our lives even if it goes against what other people may think or say. We should not be afraid to stand up for what we believe in even if it means going against popular opinion or facing criticism from others.
