Praying Before Morning Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet saw a man praying two Rakah before the morning prayer and asked him which of the two prayers he intended to be accepted.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Sarjis that the Messenger of Allah saw a man performing the two Rak’ah before the morning prayer while he himself was performing prayer. When he had finished praying he said to him: "Which of your two prayers did you intend to be counted (ie, accepted)?"

QUICK LESSONS:
Have intention when praying; Do good deeds with an intention for them to be accepted; Strive towards righteousness; Be mindful in your actions and intentions; Be aware of what you are doing in order to ensure it is done correctly and with sincerity so that it can be accepted by Allah

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer and its acceptance by Allah. It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Sarjis that the Messenger of Allah saw a man performing two Rakah before the morning prayer while he himself was performing prayer. When he had finished praying, he asked him which of his two prayers did he intend to be counted or accepted by Allah. This shows us that it is important for us to have intention when we are praying so that our prayers can be accepted by Allah. We should also make sure that we are not doing any extra or unnecessary prayers as this could lead to our prayers not being accepted.

The Prophet's question also teaches us about being mindful in our actions and intentions, as well as being aware of what we are doing in order to ensure that it is done correctly and with sincerity so that it can be accepted by Allah. We should always strive to do good deeds with an intention for them to be accepted, rather than just going through the motions without any thought or purpose behind them.
