The Importance of Listening During the Friday Sermon

SUMMARY: It is important to be quiet and attentive during the Friday sermon.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: "If you say to your companions: 'Be quiet’ on a Friday while the Imam is delivering the sermon, you have engaged in Laghw (idle talk or behaviour)".

QUICK LESSONS:
Listen attentively during the Friday sermon
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of listening attentively during the Friday sermon. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was teaching his companions that it is wrong to engage in idle talk or behaviour while someone is delivering a sermon on Fridays. He was encouraging them to be respectful and pay attention, as this would help them gain knowledge and benefit from what they are hearing. This hadith also teaches us that we should not disturb others when they are trying to learn something, as this can prevent them from gaining knowledge or understanding what is being said. We should also strive to listen carefully when someone else is speaking, so that we can benefit from their words and understand what they are saying.
