Sunan Ibn Majah 1084 (Book 5, Hadith 282) #30436
The Greatness of Friday

SUMMARY: Friday is the greatest day before Allah and has five characteristics, including that it was the day Adam was created and a time during which a person can ask Allah for anything and He will give it to him.

It was narrated that Abu Lubabah bin 'Abdul-Mundhir said: "The Prophet said: 'Friday is the chief of days, the greatest day before Allah. It is greater before Allah then the Day of Adha and the Day of Fitr. It has five characteristics: On it Allah created Adam; on it Allah sent down Adam to this earth; on it there is a time during which a person does not ask Allah for anything but He will give it to him, so long as he does not ask for anything that is forbidden; on it the Hour will begin. There is no angel who is close to Allah, no heaven, no earth, no wind, no mountain, and no sea that does not fear Friday.’"

EXPLANATIONS:
According to this hadith, Friday is the chief of days, the greatest day before Allah. It is greater than both Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr. This hadith also mentions five characteristics of this special day; firstly, on this day Allah created Adam; secondly, on this same day He sent Adam down to earth; thirdly, there is a time during which if one asks for something from Allah they will be granted it as long as they do not ask for something forbidden; fourthly, on this same day the Hour will begin; finally no angel close to Allah nor any heaven or earth or wind or mountain or sea does not fear Friday. This hadith teaches us that we should take advantage of Fridays by praying more often and asking for forgiveness from God since He may grant us our wishes if we are sincere in our prayers. We should also remember that even though Fridays are special days we must still abide by all Islamic laws such as avoiding forbidden acts like drinking alcohol etc.
