Sunan Ibn Majah 1072 (Book 5, Hadith 270) #30424
The Importance of Praying While Traveling

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encouraged people to pray both when they are residents and when they are traveling.

Usamah bin Zaid said: "I asked Tawus about performing voluntary prayer while traveling. Al-Hasan bin Muslim bin Yannaq was sitting with him and he said: 'Tawus told me that he heard Ibn 'Abbas say: "The Messenger of Allah enjoined prayer while a resident and prayer when one is traveling. We used to pray when we were residents both before and after (the obligatory prayer), and we used to pray both before and after (the obligatory prayer) when we were traveling.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad by praying regularly no matter where you are located or what you are doing.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad taught his followers the importance of prayer in their lives. He encouraged them to pray both when they were living in one place as a resident and also while traveling. This is because prayer is an important part of a Muslim's life and should be done regularly no matter where one is located or what one is doing. It was reported that the Prophet's companions used to pray before and after the obligatory prayers whether they were residents or travelers. This shows how important it was for them to keep up with their prayers even while on the go!
