Praying with Menstrual Blood Stains

SUMMARY: A woman asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) what to do if menstrual blood falls on her clothes, and he instructed her to rub it off, wash it with water, and then pray in it.

Narrated Asma' bint Abi Bakr: A woman asked Allah's Messenger , "O Allah's Messenger ! What should we do, if the blood of menses falls on our clothes?" Allah's Messenger replied, "If the blood of menses falls on the garment of anyone of you, she must take hold of the blood spot, rub it, and wash it with water and then pray in (with it).

QUICK LESSONS:
Take hold of the spot where the blood fell, rub it off, wash it with water and then pray in that same garment.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a woman who asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) what she should do if menstrual blood falls on her clothes. The Prophet Muhammad instructed her to take hold of the spot where the blood fell, rub it off, wash it with water and then pray in that same garment. This hadith teaches us that even though menstruating women are not allowed to perform certain religious duties such as fasting or praying during their period, they can still perform other religious duties such as prayer while wearing stained clothing. It also teaches us that we should not feel ashamed or embarrassed about our bodies or our natural bodily functions; rather we should embrace them and take care of ourselves accordingly.
