Praying on a Khumrah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray on a Khumrah.

Maimunah the wife of the Prophet said: "The Messenger of Allah used to perform prayer on a Khumrah".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، حَدَّثَتْنِي مَيْمُونَةُ، زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ ـ ـ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that the Prophet Muhammad PBUH used to perform prayer on a Khumrah. A khumrah is a small mat or rug which is usually placed in front of people when they are praying. It is important for Muslims to have clean and pure places when they are performing their prayers, and this hadith shows us that even the Prophet himself was careful about this aspect of his worship. The lesson we can learn from this hadith is that we should always strive to make sure our places of worship are clean and pure so that our prayers can be accepted by Allah SWT.
