Avoiding Unsuitable Actions

SUMMARY: Doing something that is not suitable is considered as Laghw.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever smoothes the pebbles, then he has engaged in Laghw".* *Meaning he has done what is not suitable.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ مَنْ مَسَّ الْحَصَى فَقَدْ لَغَا

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah states that the Messenger of Allah said whoever smoothes the pebbles, then he has engaged in Laghw. This means that doing something which is not suitable or appropriate is considered as Laghw. It teaches us to be mindful of our actions and to avoid engaging in activities which are not suitable or appropriate according to Islamic teachings. We should strive to do what pleases Allah and stay away from anything which does not meet His standards.
