Greeting During Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught Jabir that it is not appropriate to greet someone while they are performing prayer.

It was narrated that Jabir said: "The Prophet sent me on an errand, then I caught up with him while he was performing prayer, and I greeted him. He gestured to me, then when he finished, he called me and said: 'You greeted me before, but I was performing prayer.’"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of respecting others when they are in prayer. It was narrated by Jabir that the Prophet sent him on an errand and when he caught up with him while he was performing prayer, he greeted him. The Prophet gestured to him but did not respond until after his prayer was finished. He then called Jabir and told him that it is not appropriate to greet someone while they are in prayer as it can be distracting for them. This hadith teaches us the importance of respecting others and their right to pray without interruption or distraction from those around them.
