The Importance of Praying in Congregation

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ commanded a man to repeat his prayer after he performed it behind the row on his own.

It was narrated that Hilal bin Yasaf said: "Ziyad bin Abu-Ja’d took me by the hand and made me stand near an old man at Raqqah, whose name was Wabisah bin Ma’bad. He said: 'A man performed prayer behind the row on his own, and the Prophet commanded him to repeat the prayer.’"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of praying in congregation. It was narrated that Hilal bin Yasaf said that Ziyad bin Abu-Jad took him by the hand and made him stand near an old man at Raqqah whose name was Wabisah bin Mabad. He said that a man performed prayer behind the row on his own and the Prophet commanded him to repeat the prayer. This hadith teaches us that it is important for Muslims to pray together as a congregation rather than individually as this is more rewarding for them in terms of their faith and spirituality. Praying together also helps build strong bonds between members of a community which can help foster unity among them.
