Praying Without Covering the Mouth

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad forbade a man from covering his mouth during prayer.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah forbade a man to cover his mouth during the prayer".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، سُفْيَانُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْمُؤَدِّبُ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ ذَكْوَانَ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ أَنْ يُغَطِّيَ الرَّجُلُ فَاهُ فِي الصَّلاَةِ

The Prophet Muhammad taught that it is forbidden for a man to cover his mouth while praying. Additionally, this hadith also teaches us the importance of following the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad and respecting his instructions even if we do not understand why he has given them.
