Sunan Ibn Majah 954 (Book 5, Hadith 152) #30306
Praying with a Sutrah

SUMMARY: When praying, one should face a Sutrah and not let anyone pass in front of them. If someone tries to do so, they should fight them as it is the work of Satan.

It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Sa’eed that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'When anyone of you performs prayer, let him pray facing towards a Sutrah, and let him get close to it, and not let anyone pass in front of him. If someone comes and wants to pass in front of him, let him fight him, for he is a Shaitan (satan).’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray facing towards a sutrah and don't let anyone pass in front of you while praying .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that when we are performing our prayers, we should face towards a sutrah and not let anyone pass in front of us. A sutrah is an object placed between the worshipper and the qiblah which serves as a barrier between them and any distractions or disturbances that may occur during prayer. If someone does try to pass in front of us while we are praying, then we must fight them as this is the work of Satan who wants to distract us from our worship. We must remain focused on our prayers and not allow anything or anyone to disrupt it.
