EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Wail bin Hujr speaks of a gesture made by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during prayer. It is said that he would make a circle with his thumb and middle finger, while raising his index finger in supplication. This gesture is known as tashah-hud, which is an Arabic term meaning “testimony” or “bearing witness”. This gesture symbolizes one's faith in Allah and His Oneness, as well as one's commitment to follow His commands. It also serves as an expression of humility before Allah, asking for His mercy and guidance in all matters of life. Through this hadith we learn that prayer should be done with sincerity and humility; it should be done with full concentration on Allah alone so that we can receive His blessings in our lives.
