Sunan Ibn Majah 893 (Book 5, Hadith 91) #30245
The Prophet's Prayer Posture

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had a specific way of performing his prayers, which included standing up straight before bowing and sitting up straight before prostrating.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "When the Messenger of Allah raised his head from bowing, he would not prostrate until he had stood up straight. When he prostrated, he would raise his head and not prostrate again until he had sat up straight. And he used to spread out his left leg".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the proper way to perform prayer according to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. It is narrated by 'Aishah that when the Messenger of Allah raised his head from bowing, he would not prostrate until he had stood up straight. When he prostrated, he would raise his head and not prostrate again until he had sat up straight. He also used to spread out his left leg while in prostration. This shows us that it is important for Muslims to be mindful of their posture during prayer and take care to follow the example set by our beloved Prophet Muhammad in order to gain maximum benefit from our prayers. It also teaches us that we should strive for perfection in all aspects of our lives, even something as seemingly mundane as prayer posture can have a great impact on our spiritual wellbeing if done correctly and with intentionality.
