Prostration of the Prophet ﷺ

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ was seen prostrating in a particular way, with his hands on the ground before his knees.

It was narrated that Wa’il bin Hujr said: "I saw the Prophet when he prostrated and put his knees on the ground before his hands, and when he stood up after prostrating, he took his hands off the ground before his knees".
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْخَلاَّلُ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنْبَأَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ـ ـ إِذَا سَجَدَ وَضَعَ رُكْبَتَيْهِ قَبْلَ يَدَيْهِ وَإِذَا قَامَ مِنَ السُّجُودِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ قَبْلَ رُكْبَتَيْهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to perform prostration during prayer. It is narrated that Wail bin Hujr saw the Prophet ﷺ prostrating and putting his knees on the ground before his hands. When he stood up after prostrating, he took his hands off the ground before his knees. This shows us that there is a specific way to perform prostration and it should be done in this manner as taught by our beloved prophet ﷺ. It also teaches us to be mindful of our actions and pay attention to details when performing religious acts such as prayer or salah. We should strive to follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet ﷺ and emulate him in all aspects of life including prayer so that we can gain Allah's pleasure and mercy upon us.
