Sunan Ibn Majah 880 (Book 5, Hadith 78) #30232
Prostration with Open Arms

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ would hold his forearms away from his sides while prostrating, leaving enough space for a lamb to pass through.

It was narrated from Maimunah that when the Prophet prostrated, he would hold his forearms away from his sides, such that if a lamb wanted to pass under his arms, it would be able to do so.

QUICK LESSONS:
Keep your arms open during prayer
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of prayer and how it should be done. It is narrated by Maimunah that when the Prophet (ﷺ) prostrated, he would hold his forearms away from his sides in such a way that if a lamb wanted to pass under them, it could do so. This shows us how important it is to keep our arms open during prayer and not let them hang down at our sides. It also teaches us humility and respect for God's presence during prayer. We should strive to make sure we are in the right frame of mind when praying and not let anything distract us or take away from our focus on God.
