Raising Hands in Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith is about Jabir bin 'Abdullah raising his hands when he began the prayer, bowed and raised his head from Ruku, as he saw the Messenger of Allah doing that. Ibrahim bin Tahman raised his hands to his ears.

It was narrated from Abu Zubair that Jabir bin 'Abdullah would raise his hands when he began the prayer, and when he bowed, and when he raised (his head) from Ruku’ he would do likewise, and he said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah doing that". (One of the narrators) said: "Ibrahim bin Tahman (one of the narrators) raised his hands to his ears".
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، كَانَ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلاَةَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَيَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ‏.‏ وَرَفَعَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى أُذُنَيْهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how to perform salat or prayer according to the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It was narrated from Abu Zubair that Jabir bin 'Abdullah would raise his hands when he began the prayer, and when he bowed, and when he raised (his head) from Ruku he would do likewise. He said that this was what Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did. Additionally, Ibrahim bin Tahman also raised his hands to his ears while performing salat. This shows us that it is important for Muslims to follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ while performing salat by raising their hands at certain times during their prayers. Doing so will help them gain more blessings from Allah SWT as they are following His beloved messenger's example in worshipping Him properly.
