Sahih al-Bukhari 305 (Book 6, Hadith 10) #302
Menstruation in Islam

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that menstruation is a natural process ordained by Allah for all daughters of Adam and that women should not perform the Tawaf round the Ka'ba until they are clean.

Narrated 'Aisha: We set out with the Prophet for Hajj and when we reached Sarif I got my menses. When the Prophet came to me, I was weeping. He asked, "Why are you weeping?" I said, "I wish if I had not performed Hajj this year". He asked, "May be that you got your menses?" I replied, "Yes". He then said, "This is the thing which Allah has ordained for all the daughters of Adam. So do what all the pilgrims do except that you do not perform the Tawaf round the Ka'ba till you are clean".

QUICK LESSONS:
Accept our circumstances with patience and faith in Allah's plan; Show compassion towards those who are going through difficult times; Do what other pilgrims were doing except performing tawaif during menses

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that menstruation is a natural process ordained by Allah for all daughters of Adam. It is something which cannot be avoided and must be accepted as part of life. During this time, women should not perform the Tawaf round the Ka'ba until they are clean. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ showed compassion towards 'Aisha when she was weeping due to her menses and reminded her that this was something which Allah has ordained for all daughters of Adam. He also instructed her to do what other pilgrims were doing except for performing the tawaf until she was clean again. This hadith teaches us to accept our circumstances with patience and faith in Allah's plan as well as showing compassion towards those who are going through difficult times.
